AI that helps doctors run the office: Miami-linked Sunlight raises $17.4 million
· Funding and acquisition announced October 19, 2026
Sunlight AI, a startup based in New York and Miami that combines AI tools with human support to help independent doctors run the business side of their practice, has announced $17.4 million in seed funding.

Healthcare × AI
A doctor’s office is also a small business
A doctor’s practice has to handle paperwork, billing and getting paid by insurers. Sunlight AI, founded by Sina Chehrazi (who previously founded Nayya Health), combines AI software with human experts to take on that administrative work for independent physicians.

On October 19, 2026, the company announced $17.4 million in seed funding, early investment to build and grow the business, led by Basis Set Ventures. The same day it announced its first acquisition, Bradford Medical Associates. No purchase price was disclosed.
What does that mean in everyday life? After an appointment, a practice must bill for its services and follow up on payment. Sunlight’s goal is to handle that side of the business while doctors keep ownership and control of medical decisions. This is about practice administration, not an AI that diagnoses patients.

Why it matters · Our view
It shows how Miami-linked AI companies are moving into healthcare operations. Less paperwork could help independent practices stay independent and give doctors more time with patients. Those are the company’s goals, not proven results: funding is not revenue.
Still to be confirmed
No local jobs, new Miami office, acquisition price or measured savings have been announced.
